Learn How to Use Daily Prompts

If I write a terrible draft and can’t figure out how to fix it, it’s fine to let it go. It’s also fine to fix it or change it entirely. Writing without expectations frees me to experiment and take chances with my prose.

When I graduated from college, I spent a year and a half teaching and living in Guatemala. That November, to celebrate the Day of the Dead, I went with a few friends to Santiago Sacatepequez, a town roughly an hour outside of Guatemala City. We were headed to a kite festival.

Sometimes, writing can feel overwhelming. Halfway through, we wonder, “Why did I ever begin this project?” It’s only at the end that we realize that we could do it, that we did do it, and that we’re stronger than we thought.
