Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you may be violent and original in your work. —Gustave Flaubert

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

It’s November, which you may or may not know is National Novel Writing Month. Every year, thousands of people sign up to write 50,000 words by the end of the month. If you’re ready to dive into a draft, it’s a great time to start. There will be literally thousands of people joining you and cheering you on!

But If Not, That’s Okay, Too!

But if you’re not quite ready to jump into a 50,000-word project, that’s great, too. Personally, the timing has never been quite right for me with NaNoWriMo. I don’t like to get started on a draft until I’ve written my outline. But once I’ve written my outline, that’s it—I can’t wait.

Also, 2,000 words a day is a bit of a stretch, even for me (and I write a LOT). But National Novel Writing Month is *still* fun, because it’s still a month in which so many people are writing creatively.

I see November as an ideal time to recommit myself to daily writing and prioritizing my creative self. Even a few words a day can accomplish that!

If You Want To Join In But Feel Nervous

If you’ve been considering joining the challenge, I just want to remind you that I’ve put together a free downloadable outlining guide and template. It has over 30 writing prompts designed to take you through a novel draft.
